Born to Welsh speaking parents in Neath, Glamorgan, he gained an honours degree in English and became a member of the Group Poetry Workshop alongside George MacBeth and Philip Hobsbaum. His stories and poems have been broadcast by the BBCand published in Stand, Tambimuttu's London/New York, Poetry Wales, the Anglo-Welsh Review and Planet. He is an elected member of Academi Cymraeg for his 'Contribution to the Literatures of Wales.'
