Philip O'Connor described himself 'as a sort of spy upon the world'. He was a writer, poet and broadcaster. He is credited with bringing Quentin Sharp, 'The Naked Civil Servant', to the attention of publishers.  In this engaging journal, he rambles through the worlds of culture, civitas and the conventions of modern life with erudite observations and an acerbic eye for bewildering incongruities. Dorothy Parker remarked of his writing, 'Philip O'Connor, always outside of society, saw into it with blinding clearness.' This journal covers the period January 1993 - August 1993.
