Philip O'Connor described himself 'as a sort of spy upon the world'. He was a writer, poet and broadcaster. He is credited with bringing Quentin Sharp, 'The Naked Civil Servant', to the attention of publishers.  In this engaging journal, he rambles through the worlds of culture, civitas and the conventions of modern life with erudite observations and an acerbic eye for bewildering incongruities.
